We went to M&O later than we would normally for dinner. It was about a half an hour before closing, and there was only one other couple there. We placed our order for two award winning blue cow burgers, which had blue cheese and bacon. While we waited for our food, we looked around the diner-themed restaurant and the neighboring Leonard's Department Store Museum.
Having been voted the best burger, we knew we had to try M&O.
It was a more informal dining experience since we were basically the only ones there so late.
The Leonard museum was an interesting look into Fort Worth's past. The department store used to be located in large portions of downtown Fort Worth. It was the mega store of its time with everything from the latest fashions to groceries. They had a subway system, called the M&O, that helped alleviate downtown parking issues. The museum had products from the now closed department store and pictures of it during its heyday. It was interesting to see this other side of Fort Worth.
An old poster for the M&O subway.
Products from the store were set up behind a history timeline.
It was really interesting to see a glimpse of Fort Worth's past.
Just as we finished at the museum, our burgers were brought out to the table. The burger was served with a heaping helping of fresh cut french fries. With the first bite of the burger, the blue cheese flavor was undeniable. It seemed to be one with the flavor of the juicy burger and crisp bacon. Hubby and I looked at each other knowing we had found the best burger in Fort Worth. We delighted in each bite as it became more and more delicious. We even thought to ourselves that it wasn't right to compare other burgers to this brilliant display of ground beef goodness. Hubby and I are looking forward to going back again and trying other burger toppings to see if they are as delicious a combo as the award winning blue cow burger.
The burger was stuff with blue cheese so that there was big flavor in each bite.
