Fall Foliage

This past weekend, hubby and I went to Connecticut to visit his folks.  We had originally planned on going apple picking, but the weather in the spring and summer made apple picking in the area impossible.  We were sad to miss our fall tradition but were glad to see hubby's parents and enjoy the leaves beginning to change colors in the Northeast.

Hubby's mom had decked out the house in Halloween decorations just in time for October to start.  Pumpkin coffee and creamer also got us in an autumn mood along with apple cider donuts.  Hubby and I took a long walk to see the leaves and enjoyed being outside in cooler temperatures (although the weather in the Fort Worth area will be cooling down soon).  We also went to a local farm store to get apples and the most delicious apple pie ever.  It was a wonderful weekend away, but now it's back to work.

Sorry for the short post, but I hope the pictures make up for it.

Hubby's mom has the cutest Halloween decorations up.

She had a mini Halloween village with trick-or-treating kids.

Leaves were already beginning to fall onto the driveway.

The road on our walk had a light dusting of leaves.

The sun shone for just long enough for us to enjoy our walk without rain.

I love the trees that turn red... it's just so pretty.

Not all the trees had changed colors yet, but we were glad to see as much fall foliage as we did.

Hubby pointed out this serene picture.

This is outside the farm market we went to.  It inspired me to get mums... perhaps I will add that to this weekend's to do list.

The gourds were out!  They look so funky... I love it!

The market had more than just apples.

They sold fruits and vegetables from their farms and other local farms.

Our main focus during our visit was the apples!

There were multiple shelves of apples separated by variety.  Hubby's favorites are the honeycrisp apples.
