Maui's pizza?

I mentioned Mellow Mushroom in a post in early July.  It's a small pizza chain with interesting toppings and a delicious parmesan garlic crust.  We hadn't been back since we had been frequenting Cane Rosso's roaming pizza oven for our pizza cravings.  Last week we decided, we wanted to have a night in with delicious pizza and dialed up Mellow Mushroom.

When we looked over the menu, hubby noticed a pizza called Maui Wowie, which was basically a Hawaiian pizza but with many more toppings.  Hubby was so excited to see a pizza with Maui's nickname (I call her Maui Wowie) that he decided to order it. I ordered the red skin potato pie like I did last time.  It is essentially a baked potato on a pizza, which is absolutely brilliant.

In addition to the traditional Hawaiian pizza toppings, the Maui Wowie had jerk chicken, bacon, and banana peppers all on top of a pesto sauce.

The Red Skin Potato Pie did not disappoint.

Unfortunately, hubby found out that the traditional Hawaiian pizza was more his style.  The banana pepper smell overtook the other flavors and aromas of the pizza, and the pesto sauce made the pizza taste too healthy for a weekend indulgence.  Although we love our Maui Wowie, the pizza version just didn't live up to its name.
