Three's Company

Hubby and I have wanted a dog since before we were hubby and wife, but something has always stood in our way... dating long distance, no money, work, apartment rules.  With our move to Fort Worth, we were finally in the right place to possibly get a puppy.  Hubby is working but works close enough that he comes home for lunch.  I have time (at least for now) to do all the necessary training and care that comes with a new puppy.

Besides the fact that we are ready for a dog, Fort Worth is ready for a dog too.  There are a number of dogs in our apartment building, and next week there is an apartment doggie social event.  We live right by the river, which has lots of running paths and parks perfect for long walks and running around.  In local restaurants with outdoor patios, we have seen dogs hanging out with their owners.  Fort Worth is a rather dog-friendly place.

We've been looking for weeks trying to find the perfect puppy, and after much searching, we finally found her.  Yesterday, we drove out to a town outside of Denton, TX (about 40 minutes North of Fort Worth) to visit a goldendoodle breeder.  Goldendoodles are a mix of a golden retriever and poodle.  They are known for being friendly, loyal and having minimal shedding.  The breeder's ranch was beautiful and so peaceful.  Besides dogs, they had longhorns, cattle, and horses.

The breeder's beautiful ranch home.

You can see one of their longhorns peeking through the fence.

The breeder had a number of female pups to choose from... what a tough choice!  They were all so cute!  We could have stood there all day hanging out with the puppies, but we knew we had to make a choice.  Using what little information we retained from reading Puppies for Dummies, we made our choice.  A cute and cuddly little girl we call Maui.

So many adorable puppies to choose from!

But we knew there was only one for us.  Hubby is so happy.

 Welcome to the family Maui!
